Computer Information Systems
Thursday, November 10, 2005 - Full Day of Sessions

Globalization of the economy, expanding wireless technology, cyber security, and a host of other technological, social, and political changes are increasingly affecting the already rapidly evolving field of Information Systems and Technology. The CIS program will address important IS/IT issues. Attendees will hear experts in the field discuss contemporary issues, and interact with others involved in the business, academic, and professional communities. Building on last year's Cyber Security theme, the 2005 CIS program addresses a broad range of problems and issues facing today's business manager and IS/IT professional.

Finance
Thursday, November 10, 2005 - Morning Sessions

With baby boomers fast approaching their retirement age, financial planning has become more pressing and urgent than ever. The Finance program will address various current and relevant issues in financial planning and allow professional attendees to earn four continuing education credits. Session participants will learn how to steer clients clear of common pitfalls in retirement planning; appreciate the importance of living wills and health care powers of attorney; advance their understanding of long-term care insurance policies; and identify the characteristics of a solid estate plan. Furthermore, the program presents a wonderful opportunity for networking with financial planning experts and Metro State alumni.

Friday, November 11, 2005 - Full Day of Sessions

The 2005 Accounting and Auditing Conference will be co-sponsored by the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Metro State Department of Accounting. These sessions are designed for practitioners in public accounting and private industry and will provide an update of current and future developments in accounting, auditing and reporting requirements. Topics will include an update of SAS and Accounting Standards, New Techniques in Fraud Prevention and an Update on the Future of Accounting including the new Financial Reporting Model, FIN 46, Internal Controls and SOX 404 in Year 2. These topics apply equally to large and small companies, both public and private.
